Ivana Dobrakovová

Ivana Dobrakovová (1982) is a writer and translator. She is based in Turin, where she works as a freelance translator from the French and Italian into Slovak, notably of Elena Ferrante’s highly successful Neapolitan saga. She has published a novel, Bellevue (2010), and several collections of short stories. She has won several literary competitions, including the Ján Johanides Award in the category Best Fiction Debut by a Young Writer, and Poviedka (Short Story) 2008. All her books have been shortlisted for the Anasoft Litera prize including her latest, Matky a kamionisti/Mothers and Truckers (2018), which won the 2019 European Union Prize for Literature.
